Meaning of life / life isn't a competition

2026-07-10

I'm writing this article in memory of several deceased netizens, you're remembered.

Why compete?

To be a winner? This might hold true for one game, but life is a series of random events. One can’t be a winner in every aspect.

People try to one-up/ have power over others, because they’re insecure deep down inside.

They don’t trust themselves, they can’t live happily on their own, have to put themselves in one competition over another, making life a race.

What’s the prize towards the end though? I don’t know.

Who gets good jobs / good-looking partners / pretty houses / cars… etc, one can’t take them away after death, what’s the point then?

External goods can be compared, but what about feelings?

One shouldn’t only live for external validation.

If one “won”, they might be happy for a short period of time, then on to another competition, fear of losing.

If one “lost”, they might feel bad about themselves, jealous of others’ success, afraid to make a move.

Sounds like hell, no? The competition only stops when you die.

People kill themselves because they feel less than.

But life isn’t a competition, there’s no winner / loser.

People are not objects, their value can’t be compared.

Stop objectifying others, don’t objectify yourself as well.

You’re not your job, you’re not your partner, you’re not your citizenship, you’re not your friends.

The meaning of life is different for everyone. You gotta find out by yourself.

Following others’ paths is easy, following the mainstream success, the American Dream is easy.

But staying true to yourself, listening to your inner voice, and being authentic takes hella courage.

Do it.
